So summer is right around the corner and you want to be on the beach or at the pool but you aren’t feeling courageous in your bathing suit?  Follow these four simple steps to get your summer body and increase your confidence right away.

Remove: All White Carbs

Starchy white carbohydrates are high in sugar, have generally been highly processed, have had most of their nutrients stripped, and will wreak havoc on your blood sugar.

The white carbs we’re referring to include all breads, pastas, bagels, crackers muffins, cereals and anything else with enriched flour. Removing these foods is a good way to quickly and easily drop body fat and improve your health, so avoid them at all costs.

Add: Healthy Fats

Healthy fats include whole food saturated fats,  monounsaturated fats, and certain polyunsaturated fats (but any trans fats or fried vegetable oils!).  Saturated and monounsaturated fats are highly stable at high eat and in turn reduce inflammation, will get your body into fat burning mode, and give you sustained energy. Grass-fed meats and butter also contain a compound, CLA, which has been shown to enhance fat loss (1,2,3).  

Healthy Fats include avocado, coconut oil, and grass-fed butter at any temperature.  At low heat, almond butter, coconut milk, almond milk, and olive oil.  Eating the majority of your calories from healthy fats is a good way to quickly drop body fat so do so ASAP.

Remove: All “Cardio” Exercise

Cardio exercise, aka, low intensity exercise, doesn’t cause a large enough stimulus to produce a measurable quick change in your body composition and doesn’t preserve muscle to keep you constantly burning calories...not to mention it takes forever.  

Low intensity cardio exercise includes jogging, ellipticals, the stair stepper, many fitness dancing class, and any other form of exercise that you can do easily for more than a minute or two.  Removing these forms of exercise is a good way to ensure you’re not wasting your valuable time and energy on exercise that won’t get you your summer body.

Add: High Intensity Exercise

High intensity exercise must meet two main criteria: 1. your effort is so high that you can only do one bout for less than two minutes or preferably a few seconds and 2. It in turn produces a large hormonal response in your body.  

High intensity exercise can include high-intensity strength training or bodyweight movements like sprinting.  These are both going to get you cutting body fat right away.
